heya, i'm not a pro mesmer, hell i can't even interrupt decently with a mesmer (i r god interrupter with ranger), but here's a build I was playing with tonight:

Enchanter's Conundrum [E]
Augury of Death
Shatter Delusions
Empathy
Backfire
Ether Feast
Dancing Daggers*
Rez Sig

max domination, play around with the other attributes as you please =]

The spike comes down to Augury of Death -> Enchanter's Conundrum -> Shatter Delusions. If used on a monk (need to catch a monk when he or she has NO enchants on), backfire is a nasty clean up if the monk was hexed with it before.

*I like to use DD to trigger AoD...otherwise, I fill it up with either Shatter Enchantment or Signet of Humility (hurts those ZB monks, and a monk without his or her elite is definitely crippled).

The cons I find are:
-no energy management
-enchant heavy builds
-players with a crap load of hp, to which you can't kill'em all by yourself (team work!)

I've used this build only in RA.

Hmm... So what happens when a warrior decides to make you his bitch, or if there is no monk on your team, or if there's a mesmer on the opposing team?

I think this is a well known spike, but the bar usually packs enchant removal to ensure the damage from conundrum hits, as well as providing extra damage in the form of Shatter or energy management in the form of Drain.

@Numa; Ether Feast is a decent self heal that doubles as light energy denial for the enemy (but obviously is no monk substitute), Backfire can certainly help deal with enemy mesmers for one, and Empathy can either make a warrior stop swinging at you or take some rapidly mounting damage in preperation for your next conundrum-shatter spike.

since this spike has become very popular monks and other players who run enchants start stack enchanting which makes the build kinda cry if you put it up before they put enchants up and they put up 2-3 enchants your spike is ruined

also if there is another mes who doesn't wanna listen and puts hexes up following your initial hex

No Empathy is good esp for 4v4 in RA.

I would say drop "Backfire" for "Shatter Enchant"

In RA, most have 0-1 enchants so this combo will be useful

Augury of Death > Enchant Con > Shatter Enchant > Shatter Delusion.

At 14 Dom, it will deal 600 x (20/100) = 120 + 114 + 94 + 71 = 399 dmg (Armor ignorance) in theory if all conditions meet. If against "Frenzy" - War, it's no doubt an instant death!

meh i have never found empathy to do anything other than minimal dmg. That really is just ignored by everyone cept frenzy users.

Blackout is such a strong tool and you don't see many people abuse it anymore. It's great at shutdown and taking away all of a charged up warriors adren. It's also a nice way to end the Augury/Enchanters/Delusion spike on a monk; making them unable to recover from the damage.

Because most people ignore it which is dumb! Empathy is a hex that deal the MOST dmg vs Physcical attackers. At 14 Dom which most mes run, it deals 52 dmg (neglect of armor types.) That mean 12 attacks can kill an attacker by just a single spell (600+ HP.) vs Warrior with Frenzy, only 6 attacks can take down them by just a single spell.

To "The Phantom": No, there is no such thing as BEST and this IS the build. It varies depend on player and situation. Thank you! Beside, Blackout is one of the most abusing skill people like to spam in a lot of PvP types especially TA.

If you want to stop a melee class from attacking (in the context of a good team) empathy isn't the hex you want.

Still it probably works well in RA and sometimes TA.

i think i can say that 90% of people in RA don't even notice backfire/empathy on them.

i haven't used balckout in a long time, gotta try it again.
